There’s almost no chance that my dear followers would make a wrong guess on my top favorite looks of #Valentino Fall/Winter 2013 collection. Dated back to three years ago when I first started #blogging, I have on and off expressed my exceptional fondness for #Chinese blue and white Qing Hwa #porcelain inspired designs, and #Delft ceramic tile patterns originated from the #Netherlands through my writing. The extraordinary similarities between the two are due to the mutual #cultural influence between the #East and the #West as a result of #China’s Ming Dynasty’s (1368-1644) flourishing foreign trade with the Dutch East India Company in the early 1600s. Let’s not talk about #history here. I invite you to take a look at my previous blog post http://la-mode-by.gvmiao.com/2010/02/oriental-fascination-the-beauty-of-porcelain-part-ii-designer-brands-get-inspird-by-chinese-blue-and-white-qing-hwa-porcelain/ for a more detailed discussion of this topic if you are interested. Following in the footsteps of #RobertoCavalli and #JohnGalliano for #Dior who got inspired by #Delftware and ceramic blue tiles a few seasons away (early as 2005 Spring/Summer, though I would love to think their collections were a blend of the influence of traditional #Chinese #craftwork and European #Renaissance #art), #MariaGraziaChiuri and #PierpaoloPiccioli revived the “#Delftblue” art in association with the #Dutch master #Vermeer’s most famous painting, Girl with a Pearl Earring for the coming season (so touchingly thrilled to see #Valentino’s version inspired by a painting which has touched me to the bottom of my heart). A tulip embroidered lace gown and a short #Delft-like #china patterned embroidered knit dress with delicate #craftsmanship were beyond wonderful, simply speechless.
On top of that, #Valentino’s #signature lavish embellishments, attention to intricate details, luxurious #leather silhouettes, and unfailing beauty of lace and chiffon gowns were spotted on the runway, which took audiences’ breath away as usual.
