Today I received the winning slogan tee for La Mode by GV Miao X *LittleBlackDress* – Christmas Gift Giveaway Campaign 2011: T-shirt Slogan Design Contest which kicked off around last Christmas. Credits go to Alessia Caliendo, the founder and designer of *LittleBlackDress* and the lucky winner and very generous supporter of Defenders for Children US, Stephanie Drayton.
It started as my blog’s first marketing campaign and then unexpectedly turned into a charitable project, which has made my blogging experience so different and unique. I welcome more designers/brands to collaborate with me. We can work more miracles together. Just contact me.
What do you think about the Hello Kitty doll on the runway at China Fashion Week?
It wasn’t a toy fair after all was it? I’m sure it wasn’t a childrenswear show either. I keep my fingers crossed that it won’t get treated like a laughing stock in front of the foreign press.
China Fashion Week without Guo Pei, the leading Couturier from Beijing and the first iconic Chinese luxury brand NE-Tiger was like soup without salt. Frankly, most runway shows featured were rather unexciting and lacked talking points. There’s still a long way to go for young Chinese designers to sharpen their competitive edge for securing a position on the world fashion stage. It literally surprised me in a negative way when a model appeared on the runway in a girly pink frilled bikini holding the Hello Kitty doll in her hands. It wasn’t a toy fair after all was it? I’m sure it wasn’t a childrenswear show either. I keep my fingers crossed that it won’t get treated like a laughing stock in front of the foreign press.
In spite of this, I could still spot some goodies such as a Mongolian boqtaq inspired headpiece and an ethnic pompon basket to complete the multicolored ethnic tribal style, which is my favorite way to dress up these days. I saw at least a little ray of hope at this point.

Photo shoot done and treat myself to some pretty high end fashion cupcakes, that’s how a fashion maniac spent a gloomy rainy weekend…….
It is nothing about oriental style clothing yet equally fashionable and worth sharing with fashionistas. Confused? I am talking about Christina’s Creation, an artistic bakery opened by a group of heartfelt cake designers located in the quiet part of the city offering a wide range of flavors, colours and designs for cupcakes, birthday and wedding cakes, whether inspired by Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Rococo art or even Chanel and Hermes IT bags.
I was absolutely stunned by the beautiful window displays when I walked past the shop on my way home after finishing a photo shoot. I couldn’t help but get myself two cupcakes, one choc raspberry flavored and another rose lychee. They were just so yummy and rich! Christina’s cake decorations are as delicate and elegant as the top designers’ couture gowns. They are not just selling ordinary cakes; they are promoting edible art. They deserve equal attention from fashion lovers like you and me who can appreciate aesthetics and value the efforts behind each creation.
If you think I’m exaggerating, you just got to see with your eyes. Drop by Christina’s Creation in Wyndham Street, Hong Kong.
Thanks very much Ms. Myroslava Zubachyk for inviting me to be the official event blogger for Ukraine International Fashion Days 2012 (May 28 - June 1) and the honorable judge for the design contest “Nuance.” It’s definitely my honor. I need you guys support to make this trip happen!
Marie Claire China February 2012 issue featured Masha P and Anna I in its super yummy cake maker inspired editorial. Dressed up in the pastel designs of Louis Vuitton, Prada and Jean Paul Gaultier and styled in pastel hair and sweet candy-like make up, the models had turned into the sexiest and the most beautiful pâtissiers, whose beauty made them as attractive as the delicious and lovely decorated cakes as a suggestive Chinese proverb says. Did they boost your appetite?

La Mode by GV Miao highly recommends young designers/design students from China, Hong Kong and Macau to join the Fashion‧Terracotta Warrior Inspired Fashion Design Competition co-organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) and PolyU’s Institute of Textiles and Clothing. It’s a precious opportunity for young designers to make full use of their imagination and creativity to come up with a design which truly reflects their personality while exuding the essence of Chinese culture inspired by the famous Terracotta sculpture army of Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
Even if you’re not from China, fashion enthusiasts like you should keep up with the contest updates and get ready for the birth of a design star.
Designers let’s get into a time machine and travel back to the Qin Dynasty to experience a creative journey in search of Chinese civilization we inherit.
I give my full support to designers who embrace Chinese culture as always, and to fulfill my blog’s mission, I’m so willing to bring the potential ones to the world’s attention.
So why wait? Action now!
